Church BBQ
We are in the bible belt, I even read somewhere that there are more churches per capita here than anywhere else. Guess what comes with all those southern churches? Church BBQ fund raisers! If you’ve been following along for any amount of time, you’ll know this is right up my alley, I prefer homemade food, cookouts, bbq, street vendors, in short- food with soul, rather than the fancy food that I cook for a living. Celeste had the afternoon off, and let’s be honest, I have a little free time on my hands right now, so IT WAS ON! I asked her if she wanted to be in the picture, but she preferred to show her love of peace.
Yes that is sweet tea in the red cups, and yes that is Pork (we’re in North Carolina after all). After we porked down our lunch, we headed over to the bake sale table to make ourselves completely sick. Homemade fudge, brownies, cookie bars, oooh somebody stop me!
We were going to come back for dinner because there was a bluegrass band playing from 6-8, but I got suckered in to helping her with some handyman stuff (yeah, more fireworks). On the way home we invented a new game to see who the next president will be. We counted the obama vs. mccain yard signs (stickers on cars count as 1/2 point). So who won? 3-3 tie, don’t tell me we’re gonna have to deal with hanging chads again!
